Hello! My name is Thomas Max McGuire and I am a Brighton based (and raised) illustrator and designer who specialises in comics and storytelling.
Having already graduated with my BA in illustration, I am currently studying for my MA in Illustration and Sequential Design, both with Brighton University. Throughout my studies I have only gotten more excited about telling stories. So much so that I have been publishing a regular comics and illustration zine called BTOWN. This project set out to be a colourful and bold telling of queer stories and ideas, based on my own. My work is often autobiographical in that regard, not only am I quick to insert my own experiences but I quite like making work about myself!
My roots actually lie in design. Before I dove into comics and storytelling, I was an enthusiastic character designer who would often construct pitches for comics and animated shows. I am still very passionate about this and have only expanded my design reach in recent years. I have had the privilege of working with multiple clients this year. Typically these commissioned projects involve designing, prints, stickers, gift cards, etc. These clients include The Village Foodbank and TRENBI FC.
